Hi Neil I am a regular visitor to your blogsite which I found when I was researching a holiday to Oz. I would like to make a comment on your site meter, when I click on it it often shows me as being from Moutain View California when in fact I am in Andalucia Spain, which it sometimes picks up. Don't know why this should be, any ideas? Georgie
Hi Georgie. Wow, another loyal fan, I think that makes four ;)
The answer to your question is that SiteMeter has a database which contains records mapping Internet Protocol addresses to locations. And it has the record for your wrong.
Interestingly (that might be a bit of a stretch actually) the latest release of SiteMeter was supposed to improve that... previously it though I was in Canberra, and it doesn't anymore.
Still at least now I know who "Mountain View" is now :-)
